1. We Love

What it means:

God wants us to love — to care for others the same way He cares for us. Love means being kind, forgiving, and helpful, even when it’s not easy. When we love, we show people what God is like, because God is love.

Old Testament:

  • Deuteronomy 6:5 – “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” → This means our love for God should be strong and real — not just words, but actions.
  • Leviticus 19:18 – “Love your neighbor as yourself.” → God told His people long ago to treat others kindly and fairly, just like they would want to be treated.

New Testament:

  • John 13:34–35 – Jesus said, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” → Jesus showed His love by helping, healing, and forgiving people — and He wants us to do the same.
  • 1 John 4:7 – “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.” → Every time we love, we are sharing a little piece of God with others.
In simple words: When we say “We Love,” we mean we want to love God with all our hearts and love people like Jesus loves us — kindly, patiently, and without giving up.

2. We Serve

What it means:

To serve means to help. Jesus taught that helping others is one of the best ways to show love. Serving doesn’t have to be big — it could mean sharing, listening, praying, or doing something kind without expecting anything back.

Old Testament:

  • Joshua 24:15 – “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” → Joshua chose to put God first and follow His ways.
  • Proverbs 19:17 – “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.” → Helping others is like giving a gift to God.

New Testament:

  • Mark 10:45 – “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” → Jesus, the Son of God, came to help people, not to be treated like a king. He washed His friends’ feet and cared for the weak.
  • Galatians 5:13 – “Serve one another humbly in love.” → Serving isn’t about being important — it’s about being humble and kind.
In simple words: When we say “We Serve,” we mean we want to help others like Jesus did. Every time we serve — whether we help at home, share with friends, or pray for someone — we make God happy.

3. Jesus Saves

What it means:

Jesus came to rescue us from sin — the wrong things we do that separate us from God. Because He died on the cross and rose again, He made a way for everyone to be forgiven and live forever with Him. That’s what it means when we say “Jesus Saves.”

Old Testament:

  • Isaiah 43:11 – “I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from me there is no savior.” → Long before Jesus came, God promised that He alone would save His people.
  • Psalm 27:1 – “The Lord is my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear?” → God has always been the One who rescues and protects His children.

New Testament:

  • Matthew 1:21 – “You are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” → Even Jesus’ name means “God saves.”
  • John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” → Jesus saves everyone who believes in Him — He gives us new life now and forever.
  • Acts 4:12 – “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” → Only Jesus has the power to save and bring us close to God.
In simple words: When we say “Jesus Saves,” we mean Jesus is our Hero — He rescues us from sin and gives us hope, peace, and everlasting life.

Bringing It All Together

Our strapline — “We Love • We Serve • Jesus Saves” — tells the story of what it means to follow Jesus:
  1. We Love — because God loved us first.
  2. We Serve — because Jesus showed us how to help others.
  3. Jesus Saves — because only He can give us new life.
Together, these words remind us of the heart of the Bible — love God, love people, and tell the world that Jesus is our Savior.

A Simple Prayer

Dear Jesus, Thank You for loving us so much. Help us to love others the same way You love us. Teach us to serve with kind and happy hearts. And thank You, Jesus, for saving us and giving us new life. Amen!
