Scripture Foundation: “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient.” — 2 Timothy 2:24

At Brixton Community Outreach Ministry (BCOM), we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and Christ-centred environment where everyone is welcomed, valued, and encouraged. These guidelines set out the accepted behaviours for both guests and staff during meetings and outreach activities.

  1. Promote Peace — No Striving • Avoid quarrelling, heated debates, or disruptive behaviour. • Express differences of opinion respectfully, without hostility. • Work together to preserve unity and harmony.
  2. Show Kindness — Be Gentle • Speak with respect, compassion, and courtesy to all. • Avoid harsh, judgmental, or dismissive words or actions. • Staff will welcome guests warmly; guests are expected to treat staff and volunteers with equal respect.
  3. Encourage Learning — Apt to Teach • Staff and volunteers will guide, explain, and support with humility. • Guests are encouraged to listen, ask questions, and seek understanding. • Meetings are opportunities for mutual spiritual and practical growth.
  4. Exercise Patience • Be patient with one another’s differences in personality, background, and culture. • Allow others time to speak without interruption. • Extend grace when mistakes are made.
  5. Live Christlike Service — Love in Action
    • Seek to serve one another in love, not self-interest. • Share food, time, and encouragement generously. • Let every action honour God and build unity in the community.

Accountability:

• These guidelines apply to all participants at BCOM meetings.

• Failure to uphold them may result in being asked to step aside from activities for the wellbeing of the group.

Agreement:

By participating in BCOM meetings, I commit to honouring these values and behaviours, striving to reflect the love of Christ in all I do.
