BCOM Volunteer Code of Conduct

At Brixton Community Outreach Ministry (BCOM), our volunteers are at the heart of our mission. To ensure a safe, respectful, and effective environment for everyone we serve, we ask all volunteers to commit to the following Code of Conduct.

1. Commitment to Our Mission

• Uphold BCOM’s values: Love, Serve, Save.

• Act with integrity, professionalism, and a spirit of service in all activities.

• Represent BCOM positively in the community, both online and offline.

2. Respect and Inclusivity

• Treat all individuals with dignity and respect, regardless of race, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, or ability.

• Foster an environment of inclusion, kindness, and collaboration.

• Avoid behaviors or language that could cause harm or discomfort to others.

3. Confidentiality

• Respect the privacy of service users, volunteers, and staff.

• Do not share personal information outside the ministry without proper consent.

• Handle sensitive information responsibly, especially regarding vulnerable individuals.

4. Professional Conduct

• Follow instructions and guidance from BCOM staff or team leaders.

• Maintain punctuality and reliability for all scheduled volunteering duties.

• Dress appropriately and safely for the activity or event.

5. Safeguarding

• Prioritize the safety and well-being of all participants, particularly children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

• Report any concerns about abuse, neglect, or unsafe behavior immediately to the designated safeguarding officer.

• Complete any required DBS checks or training before engaging with vulnerable groups.

6. Accountability

• Accept responsibility for your actions and conduct while volunteering.

• Provide honest feedback and report any challenges or incidents to BCOM staff promptly.

• Refrain from any activity that may damage the reputation of BCOM or its mission.

By volunteering with BCOM, you are agreeing to follow this Code of Conduct. This ensures a safe, respectful, and effective environment where everyone can serve and be served with dignity, faith, and love.
