“Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far?” – 2 Samuel 7:18

In this profound moment, King David expresses awe and gratitude — not for his status or accomplishments, but for the grace and favor of God. He doesn’t exalt his own journey from shepherd to king; instead, he bows low before the One who brought him through it all.

Humility is that rare posture of heart that acknowledges, “I didn’t do this on my own.” It remembers the pits we were pulled from and the quiet doors God opened when no one else saw us. It’s a response, not to what we’ve achieved, but to who God is.

In a world that rewards pride and self-promotion, humility becomes a powerful, countercultural act of worship. It keeps us grounded. It keeps God central.

Let This Be Our Posture

“Lord, who am I, that You have brought me this far?”
Let that question lead you not to insecurity, but to worship. For in God’s hands, we find our true worth — and our true strength is in surrender.

Reflection:
What has God done for you that humbles you most? Take a moment to thank Him for how far He’s brought you — and give Him all the glory.here has He brought you from? Like David, let your response be one of humility and worship.
